Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! We are really enjoying the holiday, even though we've been snowed in for 2 days. It reminds me once again of God's perfect timing. Instead of running around from party to party, we are forced to stay home, relax, and enjoy time together as a family and spend time focusing on the true meaning of Christmas instead of dealing with the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Christmas Eve I made a big "Christmas meal" with our fancy dinner plates, wine glasses, and candles. The kids thought it was very special and felt important helping me make the food. Here is Bman smashing the oreos for an oreo salad - perfect job for him.
After supper we watched movies and had a slumber party in the living room (This is usually our new years eve tradition, but we won't mind doing it again then, too).

Christmas morning I woke up to the hubby making bacon and eggs! It was a late breakfast, so no one was hungry for dinner. When we got hungry we had apple pie and ice cream. Don't you love holiday eating? We spent the afternoon opening our gifts, assembling them, playing with them, painting our nails, and singing Christmas carols. Santa brought the kids a real pony this year, so the hubby got out the tractor, bundled up the older 3 kids, drove them across the drive way in the blizzard like conditions to the barn where they rode the pony and played with dad. They said something about jumping in the corn? I don't know. They had a good time and came back all smiles, but cold. They also helped with chores and scooping snow. Then he drove them back to the house to bathe before supper.
"All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth, my two front teeth, my two front teeth..." I have a 6 month old and a 6 year old both singing to the tune of that song this year. Minime has one permanent front tooth just popping through and Peanut's gift from Santa was a front tooth that popped through on Christmas morning! Thanks Santa, but I would have rather wished for a good night's sleep on Christmas Eve :)

Well, we all have really been enjoying the "uniqueness" of this Christmas! Definitely one we'll remember for a long time. We pray that you enjoyed the day with your family as well.

Happy Birthday Jesus! Thank You, Lord, for sending your Son!
