Zantac...

...It changes things.
About three weeks ago my happy little girl started getting fussy. My first thought was that it must be something I'm eating, so I chose my food wisely and made mental notes..no change. In fact, she was steadily getting worse.
My next course of action was to pump everything and see how much she was getting to eat. Maybe I was producing enough? Nope, no problems there. Meanwhile, every day is more of a struggle.
Well, maybe she's just ready for some cereal, so I tried that once a day for a couple of days but only convinced myself she was allergic to it (even though she's not) because of the constant screaming.
By now it's to the point where she has to be held or upright to be comfortable. I'm not getting anything done all day and sleep is far and few between. My husband diagnosed it as "spoiled", but as a mother, you know when it's more than that. But what? Your mind races. Constipation? H1N1? Allergies? Ear infection? So, I finally brought her in to the Dr. and she put her on Zantac for reflux. The picture above shows what she was like 2 days later. She's a completely different kid. This would have NEVER happened a week before this.
My question was, why now? Why did this come on at 4 months of age and not sooner. (Although I had already cut out dairy right away for fussiness and hadn't had problem's since). Her first question to me was, When did she get her immunizations. Yep, a little over 3 weeks ago. Apparently if there is an underlying condition, immunizations can flare it up and medication is needed to get it back under control. So, now she's back to all smiles and we're looking forward to more smiles and happy days ahead!
