Struggling

I'm so glad LiviJ will be done with school in a few weeks. She's just really struggling through it. She used to love school, so I asked why she didn't want to go to school any more. Well, first of all, she doesn't like recess because she can't do any of the things that the other kids are doing. All playground equipment is off limits and I think she's already written on every square inch of pavement with her sidewalk chalk. She's bored and sad about having to be "different", and understandably so. I asked her about the inside stuff. "Don't you like learning your new letters?" Yes, she does, but after she sits there for a while she says she gets so tired and doesn't want to do it any more. By the time work time comes around (which is thier indoor "play time") she's got a headache, she's tired, and just wants to go home. The "inside" stuff seems to be a lot for her brain to handle yet. It's hard because I know how much she LOVED school and it breaks my heart to hear her say she doesn't want to go today. I also struggle with how much to push her. Do I make her go anyway? Is this really too much for her? Does she need to do this even though it's not fun or easy for her? I don't know. We are making her go the entire time on her 1/2 days, but only bring her for 1/2 day on her full day. Make sense? She does so well at home that we think she should be able to handle that much. But, then again, we don't push her to work her brain too much while she's at home, either. She can just play and then rest when she get's tired. Enough rambling, I just thought I'd share my struggle with you for today.

I do want to say, though, that besides the "school" issue she seems to be doing really well! She rarely complains of a headache, she just gets tired really quickly. She still eats sporatically but she's working back up to her normal appetite. I can tell she had lost some wieght (like she had any to spare), but she's managing just fine. Thanks for checking in on us today!
