The Zoo

Before getting the kids back to school, we were able to squeeze in a quick family vacation this weekend to Omaha.
We left Saturday mid morning and took our time getting there. Then swam at our hotel till supper time, got dressed and ran across the parking lot to a Perkins, then came back to the hotel and swam till the pool closed.
Got up Sunday morning, had continental breakfast at the hotel and headed to the zoo. It was a HOT day, but we took our time and relaxed a lot while the kids starred at the animals. We tried to take the day as an opportunity to show the kids that God made SO MANY different kinds of animals. All unique and each with a purpose. But on the way home they realized that not even all the animals God created were at the zoo...They didn't see any deer (among many other animals).
The girls really enjoyed the giraffes because we could get so close to them. Minime took picture after picture. They thought it was hillarious how he could barely reach the water with his long neck.
(Above)Bman and I crossing a rope bridge behind the waterfall.
(Below) Peanut loved the underwater aquarium. She yelled and pointed at everything that swam by. Yes we had her on a leash. With her new found walking legs, it was the safest way to go:)
The next picture is right before dinner time. Everyone was getting a little hungry, hot and cranky. LiviJ, the hubby, and Bman are laying on the benches, and Peanut and Minime were trying to get out of the sun in the stroller. So we took some extra time to eat, cool off, rest our feet, and lose LiviJ's front tooth in her hot dog. Memories...
The rest of the day also went good. Bman chanted "Lions and Bears" as he walked around the zoo and Peanut did SO well in her stroller. She even got a little nap in. The older girls did pretty well too, considering the heat and they didn't get any stroller time:) After the zoo we headed for home. All kids slept until we stopped for Pizza about a half hour from home.
We enjoyed having some nice quality family time.
