I had my weekly checkup at 10am on Thursday. Feeling miserable, I said a prayer on the way there. First and foremost I prayed that this checkup would still confirm a healthy and active baby. But secondly, I prayed for a healthy dose of patience if she tells me this isn't going to happen soon.
Upon examination she found that my water was leaking and I was dilated to 6. Honey, you're in labor. Go home, get your husband and your things and come right back. I first stared and her and then said, OK.
Not really feeling the urgency to rush, we didn't get back to the hospital until noonish. I was feeling a little stupid to be going to the Dr when I didn't feel like I was in labor. But, we got checked in and got hooked up to the moniters for a little while. Yep, she's having contractions every 4 minutes. I gave the hubby a look like, are they kidding me? I was hoping I could still have a sandwich for dinner. I was so hungry!
Finally the Dr came in and said, let's break your water and have a baby. I agreed and said there was no sense in sittin' around. Might as well get it done. She broke my water at 1:00pm. OOHH! That's right! THAT's what labor feels like! At 1:36pm we brought our little baby into the world.
So many prayers were sent up on behalf of this little peanut. Not only did we pray through every step of this pregnancy, but we prayed about labor as well. I was having a lot of back/hip trouble and pulled muscles due to a fall a couple of weeks ago and I was so worried that I wouldn't have the strength for labor. But God was answering our prayers left and right-in every situation. What an awesome God!
