Green Light

LiviJ had her 6 week checkup with the specialist in SF today and she got the green light to DITCH THE HELMET! I don't even have to tell you how ecstatic she is! I wanted to celebrate with ice cream; she wanted to celebrate by going to the park! Can't say as that I blame her. She's going through swingset withdrawls.

The appointment went well. They don't do another CT scan unless there are concerns, which we don't have. So, he can tell by feeling it if it's healing. What he said was that it felt as though the bones were fused back together and 6 weeks should be adequate amount of time for it to be healed. That side of her head is flatter and not "egg shaped" like the other side and will probably be that way for the rest of her life. He assured me that this is not a problem and will not cause problems for brain growth. Good to know.

As for the tiredness she still has, that is a result of the concusion. As I mentioned before, all concusion patients heal at different rates. She could be fine in 2 weeks, or she could still be noticing side effects for months. We'll continue taking it one day at a time. I do know, however, that God is answering all the prayers that I've asked you to send up on her behalf. The last 7-10 days I have seen great improvement in her attitude. She came home from school every day last week with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step. She's always ready for bed early, but the evenings are more bearable.

Dr's orders for the summer are to have fun! Thanks so much for always checking in on us and keeping her in your prayers.
