Wanted to give you a little update on how LiviJ is doing because I know so many of you are praying for her and thinking of her.
Every day she get's a little better and requires little or no tylenol. I love to see the smile back on her face and more energy to get up and play. For this improvement we are SO thankful. But, the better she feels, the harder it will be to keep her under control. She has to understand that her head is still broken and she still needs to be very careful in what she does for then next 6 weeks.
Because of the bruising and swelling on the outside of her head, it hurts to wear her helmet. But within the last couple of days she's been able to wear it and go outside and play in the sandbox and do simple play stuff. She told me today that the bump on the outside of her head isn't as big anymore. I'm just going to trust what she says because I won't touch it. Our next challenge will be to keep the helmet on her when she feels 100% and it's hot outside. We made a "helmet count down" the other day so that she has some idea of how long she will need to wear it. She enjoys crossing off each day as we get closer to no helmet and her birthday:)
I have noticed a few memory issues with her. For example, she asked me one time what it meant to tickle someone and just yesterday she had no idea what a calculator was. Once we showed her she remembered, but it's scary to hear her ask those kinds of questions. I've been told that this type of minor memory loss is temporary and due to the concusion, but she has a follow up appointment with the specialist in SF on Tuesday and I'll mention it and see what he has to say - just so he can ease my mind.
We just want to thank you all so much for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to recover over the next 6 weeks. Pray that she (and I) will have the patience to endure wearing her helmet and limiting her rough play.
