"Off The Road" Trip

I want to go on the record by first saying, "It's not my fault". I fully blame the weather man. To me, a forcast of "Flurries after Midnight" translated to "Travel is safe. Proceed with plans to go swimming." We met a friend at the pool to go swimming around 6:00pm. We left the pool at 7:30pm and in this short amount of time, it had started snowing and the wind was ferociuos. Only a few miles out of town, I realized this was not a good idea. I felt like I could hear my heart beat out of my chest. I was so scared. I couldn't see anything but a cloud of white. The girls were in the back seat and kept saying, "Can you see where you are going, mom?" I tried to be strong for them, but inside I thought I was going to burst out into tears at any momemt. My first thought was to turn around. But honostly, I couldn't see anything, let alone a corner to turn around at. I could call someone to come and get us, but I didn't even know where I was at. And if I couldn't see, they weren't going to be able to see any better. My only chance was to plug on. Finally, I made it to the gravel road to my parents house. I barely saw the green street sign and new the road was around somewhere. But, as you can guess the ending of this story, I mis judged and turned right into the ditch. Only 2 miles from my folks, I opted to call my dad to get me out. The girls asked what happened. I told them we were stuck and Grandpa was going to come and get us and we were going to sleep there for the night. LiviJ responds with, "Why don't we just camp in the car?". I like a positive thinker and I had to laugh. It definitely lifted my spirits. Minime said, "But we didn't bring our sleeping bags, and we can't lay down in here." So, after debating, we unanimously agreed to accept Grandpa's ride to his house.

So, today the hubby had to grind and my dad had to scoop snow. What do we do now since my car is still in the ditch? Why, you jump in your mom's car and you go shopping, of course! That'll cure any problem, won't it? By the time we got back, the car was out, and it's life back to normal. I'm just so thankful that we are all ok and no one got hurt. Scary deal!

Dean left for Bible Study that night and turned around about a mile later. It must have been pretty awful.

Sorry I didn't make it to go swimming, just a very busy day and didn't think about it until after the fact.
