Busy Fall Day

Once again, I can't believe how time has passed me by. Today we've been enjoying a beautiful fall day. So far, we've "rescued" a cat that the girls were convinced was trapped in the shed, the girls made a house out of leaves and played in that while I put some Christmas lights on a couple of our small outside evergreens, and they helped daddy work on the baler.

Between combining and baling, it's crazy season around here. I start the day off as the role of mother, but by afternoon, it has changed to farmer. I've been lucky enough to be able to help the hubby bale. I'm not being sarcastic. I really do enjoy it! (probably because I don't have to put in as many hours as some other people). Some days I'm out there around dinner time and work all afternoon while the kids go to my mom or my sister, or anyone willing to play with them for a few hours. Around 8pm two kids hop in with me and one with the hubby and this is the scene in the tractor anywhere from 9-10pm:

So, it's really quite peaceful and we bale as late as everything keeps working. I've said to my hubby that I really need to a bring a camera with me every time I bale. I've seen so many animals! One day there was a big eagle sitting right on top of a bale - beautiful sight. Another day I made "friends" with a coyote around midnight. He kept following me in the row right next to me, which was neat until I decided I really had to go to the bathroom but wasn't about to share the outside world with a coyote and my bare butt. Yet another time I saw a gorgeous deer with a HUGE rack! Any hunter would have loved it!!
So, that is what we are doing to fill up our Fall days. Hope everyone has a safe harvest season.
